Téma: Projekt spája slovenské a maďarské inštitúcie ochrany prírody, občianske združenia a Hlavné mesto SR Bratislavu do oficiálneho partnerstva. Cieľom projektu je zvýšenie stability populácie dropa veľkého a sokola červenonohého na Slovensku v Chránenom vtáčom území (CHVÚ) Sysľovské polia a v Maďarsku v štyroch CHVÚ.

Medzi kľúčové aktivity projektu patrí zmena spôsobu využívania pôdy na postupy v súlade s ochranou prírody a zvyšovaním celkovej biodiverzity, s ohľadom primárne na uvedené cieľové druhy.

Actions and means involved:

The project is allocating more than 50% of the total estimated cost for concrete conservation actions to activities directly benefitting the project SPAs, that are necessary to achieve the conservation objective.

In Slovakia (SKCHVU029):

Conditions on about 112 hectares of the land (intensive farming at present) will be significantly improved and land will be transformed from arable land to fellow land/grassland. The land will be the subject of specific restoration during the project.

Best practice methods of management leading to habitats restoration and innovative solutions will be introduced and tested either as pilot or as demonstration activities. Among these long strips of bright wildflowers will be planted through crop fields to boost the natural predators of pests and potentially cut pesticide spraying. Exclusively practices to support insects including bee populations will be in place.

All stakeholders will be involved, especially the land owners. Meetings will be organized not only to increase awareness. Our goal is to achieve significant change of present status in the area.

Therefore negotiations will be in place to ensure future proper management on another state-owned 100 hectares of the land, which are in present under administration of Slovak Land Fund.

In case a breeding attempt of Otar will be recorded, protection of the breeding site will be ensured by legal tools, such as the protection zones around nest etc. Similarly, all legal methods will be used to ensure safe breeding of detected pairs of Fvesp. Non−invasive methods to prevent nest predation by a marten will be tested.

Over 3000 trees/shrubs of original varieties will be planted to support invertebrates, overall biodiversity, water retention and safe breeding conditions for Fvesp. By this we also help to prevent soil erosion and spread of pollution by pesticides.

100 alluminium nest boxes of a new type will be designed and new methods of installation will be introduced in the central part of SKCHVU029.

12 Fvesp will be mounted with a transmitter (6 adults, 6 juveniles) and at least 200 chicks will be ringed under the international color scheme.

Several actions will be implemented to decrease disturbance. Regular inspection visits will be carried out in cooperation with police (training will be ensured) and State Nature Conservancy (SNC). A study will be elaborated to identify measures and concrete actions to direct visitors from core area into less sensitive parts of the SPA, with several actions carried out during the project lifetime (installation of small-scale infrastructure etc.).

In Hungary:

Habitat restoration for Fvesp in HUFH10001 and HUFH10004 is planned after mechanical elimination of invasive tree species or agressive weed and shrub species. The different habitat management requirements during the breeding season of Otar and Fvesp make necessary the creation of separate zones for each species.

In HUFH10004 Mosoni−sík the target area is 33 ha in the management of FHNPD, as well as 15 ha in the management of the cooperating Lajta−Hanság Corporation. Apart from grassland restoration we plan to cooperate with farmers to establish fallow land strips on altogether 50 ha intensive ploughland to provide more adequate habitats for the target species. In HUFH10004 the municipality of Várbalog will hold several events for farmers from HU, SK and AT to promote proper farming practices and increase land under suitable management (workshops, events, joint plantation and care for 50 grown trees for roosting of Fvesp).

In HUFH10001 Fertő−tó 263 ha under the management of FHNPD will be managed in favor of Fvesp 50 nest boxes will be placed out for the Fvesp in each SPA (100 altogether). 50 chicks will be marked under the international color ringing scheme.

200 nest boxes will be installed and maintained in at least 4 colonies in HUDI 10005 and HUDI10007 to ensure suitable conditions for breeding success and creating stepping stones for the range expansion of breeding red-footed falcon from core breeding areas in Hungary.

General:

The impact of project measures will be verified.

Besides the breeding population, also wintering (Otar) and migrating (Fvesp) population will be monitored.

Active networking, exchange and sharing of knowledge is expected during the project lifetime and afterwards between project beneficiaries, stakeholders on national and transnational level as well as with external partners. At least 80 meetings, workshops and other events are expected.

Joint land use and CAP payment policy recommendations with emphasis on Natura 2000 sites will be elaborated.

Innovative and highly efficient PR actions are planned to support the long-term outreach of the project.

Principles of sustainability will be followed and promoted. Products and services of officially recognised eco−labelling schemes such as the EU Ecolabel will be preferred and promoted.

Ciele projektu:

Hlavnou myšlienkou projektu je využitie telemetrie na identifikáciu a kvantifikáciu kľúčových príčin úhynu dravých vtákov v EÚ a vykonanie opatrení v rámci boja proti hlavným príčinám mortality spôsobených ľudskou činnosťou, ako je nezákonné prenasledovanie, najmä otravy, kolízie s cestnou a železničnou dopravou, veterné elektrárne a elektrické vedenia a stĺpy.

Projekt prispeje k implementácii niekoľkých kľúčových cieľov politiky EÚ, ako sú akčné plány EÚ pre cieľové druhy, národné a európske akčné plány na boj proti nelegálnemu usmrcovaniu vtákov, a tým podporí aj vykonávanie smernice o vtákoch ako aj smernice o environmentálnej kriminalite.
Projekt pomôže zabezpečiť environmentálne vhodné vykonávanie cieľov EÚ v oblasti klímy a energetiky, pretože poskytne informácie a odporúčania pre rozvoj infraštruktúry pre energiu z obnoviteľných zdrojov a zmierni nepriaznivé vplyvy existujúcej prenosovej a dopravnej infraštruktúry.

Hlavné ciele projektu:

1. Významné zníženie vplyvu otráv (zníženie miery prípadov otráv o 5 % na úrovni EÚ)
2. Identifikácia a riešenie problematických prípadov týkajúcich sa úhynov spôsobených elektrickým prúdom / kolíziami s konštrukciami elektrických vedení
3. Zníženie ďalších príčin mortality zapríčinených činnosťou človeka.

Hlavným cieľovým druhom projektu je haja červená (Milvus milvus), ďalšími cieľovými druhmi projektu sú orol kráľovský (Aquila heliaca), orliak morský (Haliaeetus albicilla) a sokol rároh (Falco cherrug).

Projekt sa realizuje v siedmich európskych krajinách v rámci 23 Chránených vtáčích území a 9 Významných vtáčích území s nasledovnou lokalizáciou:

Ciele projektu:

Hlavným účelom projektu je prispieť k cieľu Stratégie EÚ v oblasti biodiverzity – zabrániť strate biodiverzity pozdĺž rieky Dunaj. Každý rok na jar a na jeseň migrujú Dunajom milióny vtákov smerujúc do a zo vzdialených zimovísk.

Iba Dolná časť Dunaja a Dunajská delta sú domovom približne 331 druhov vtákov, vrátane vzácneho pelikána kučeravého, ako aj 90% svetovej populácie bernikly červenokrkej. Mnohé z týchto druhov čelia v posledných desaťročiach dramatickým populačným poklesom. Zásahy elektrickým prúdom a/alebo kolízie s elektrickým vedením majú každý rok na svedomí 20% hniezdnej populácie orla kráľovského, sokola rároha a pelikána kučeravého.

Medzi hlavné ciele projektu patrí zníženie úmrtnosti vtáctva v dôsledku zrážky a elektrickými vedeniami v rámci 23 Chránených vtáčích území a 9 Významných vtáčích území a zvýšiť populáciu 12 cieľových druhov. Tieto ciele sa v rámci projektu budú dosahovať prostredníctvom izolácie najnebezpečnejších elektrických stĺpov a inštalácie odkloňovačov letu vtákov na najrizikovejších úsekoch elektrických vedení. Populácia 12 cieľových druhov bude monitorovaná štandardnými metódami s cieľom potvrdiť efektívnosť opatrení.

Jedným z cieľov projektu je aj posilniť medzinárodnú spoluprácu a zvýšiť efektívnosť prijatých opatrení na medzinárodnej úrovni. Štandardizované postupy pri monitoringu na medzinárodnej úrovni umožnia zamerať sa na najrizikovejšie oblasti s najväčšou prioritou – 245 kilometrov najrizikovejších elektrických vedení bude pre vtáctvo viditeľnejších a cca 3200 podperných elektrických stĺpov bezpečnejších.

Between June 2019 and November 2020 the Special Protection Area (SPA) Sysľovské polia will be conserved under the project Wilderness on the border. Under the project the conservation actions will be also implemented in the Fertő-Hanság National Park in Hungary.

This will be ensured by Raptor Protection of Slovakia, Czech Union for Nature Conservation and Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Association.

The project is co-financed by the Governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustain able regional cooperation in Central Europe.

Why is the project important?

The project will focus to improve attitude of local community towards valuable areas in their neighborhood. At present people living close to SPA Syslovské polia visit the area for recreation. Often legal restrictions and limitations due to conservation of nature are not followed because the people are not aware enough about the importance of this area. Their attitude is rather negative due to lack of awareness, understanding and mutual communication. Disturbance of bird species occurring here result in breeding failure or loss of sources of energy necessary for survival in winter. Especially in case of rare species, such as the red-footed falcon (RFF) it can affect the whole population (only 18 pairs breed in this territory which is at the same time the only one known nesting site of the species in Slovakia). Also the critically endangered great bustard is under high risk of this threat, especially in winter. In the past notice boards and pictograms were installed to increase awareness, the site was promoted via media work, a movie was published online about the red-footed falcon, raising up the importance of this site.

What are the actions of the project?

The attitude of local community will be changed to positive by activities focused to increase awareness. The local people will be offered to directly take part on particular actions focused on research and practical conservation, such as:

1. Online map of hotspots for visitors - "Thank you for watching, from safe distance." This map will present the most interesting spots within Sysľovské polia and adjacent area in Hungary and places where people can observe rare species from safe distance. To prepare this map data about occurence of several species will be updated in participation of the local community.

2. Know you know us - Guided tours with presentation of conservation actions, promo videos online to explain the importance to restrict movement within this particular area (e.g. inspection of nest boxes, ringing of juveniles etc.). - Installation of 15 nest boxes in SK - HU border region (National Park Ferto Hanság, NPFH) and live stream of breeding in one of those to underline the international aspect for both local comunities.

3. Active work for compensation measures Workshops for local people in Sysľovské polia to improve conditions for wild species in field. This will include creating small wetlands, walls for reptiles etc. SK-HU-CZ guidelines will be available for anybody.
